About me
Safaa Hakim is a registered Clinical counsellor and psychotherapist. She is a mature age counsellor with a wealth of life experience and is compassionate about guiding her clients to explore their difficulties and strengthen their emotional wellbeing. Safaa enjoys working with Person Centred, Solution Focused, Emotionally Focused, and Body work approaches like Mindfulness, Meditation and Gestalt therapy. Sofia practices within a context which embraces acceptance, compassion and inner truth.
Safaa is an ethical, compassionate, non-judgmental and supportive therapist. She provides specific counselling in the areas of anxiety, stress, depression, and relationships; as well as behavioural and other cognitive issues, ensuring she can offer a wide range of counselling support to meet the needs of her clients and an organisation’s employees.
Safaa’s area of expertise includes working with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds; where an understanding of culture and traditions within the local Australian context allows her to support cultural context. Safaa was born in the Middle East and spent time in 32 countries in her adult life. This enables her to build and nurture an environment that is safe and inclusive for therapies that are suitable for each client. Safaa is a bilingual Arabic speaker and her practice is sensitive to the needs of people from various ethnic backgrounds, sexualities and diverse backgrounds.
Safaa empowers couples and individuals to overcome personal obstacles to improve their relationships, using clinically tested and evidenced-based interventions. Healthy relationships can enhance and improve overall well-being, leading to more productive and fulfilling lives.

Responsibilities
• Interview clients for intake and assessment.
• Carry out assessments to identify the root cause of clients’ mental condition to develop treatment
plan.
• Organize personal/group counselling sessions during which to treat mental illness and to promote
optimum mental health.
• Proffer solutions and recommendations to health issues that border on self-esteem, family
problems, addictions, and suicidal impulse.
• Maintaining accurate record of patient information and analysing them to determine suitable
procedure for treatment
• Liaise with appropriate services for external referrals and advocacy.

I tailor therapy to each individual’s needs, drawing from CBT, ACT, Somatic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and EMDR.
