Simona Panetta
About me
My name is Simona Panetta-Crean and I have been a practicing Jungian Psychotherapist and Jungian Analyst in North and Central London for the past 30 years. I have worked in the mental health field for close to 40 years and am committed to providing counselling, psychotherapy, and analysis in a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental environment.
Psychotherapy and analysis can sometimes seem mysterious, even a little intimidating. The terminology used can be opaque and confusing to a live person. You may be wondering what is involved, and will it be the right thing for you? I hope I can provide some of the answers here and help you decide whether to take the next step and contact me to book a session or ask for more information.

Counselling is usually short term and focuses on a particular problem or issue.
It is often helpful at times of crisis, such as a relationship breaking up, a bereavement, or at times of transition or other major life events. It offers a chance to look and explore feelings, emotions and thoughts in a safe environnment.
Sometimes it is important to meet with a greater frequency as this generates a feeling of safety and continuity between sessions and enables an exploration in greater depth. For some people meeting twice or three times a week may be sufficient. This is usually defined as psychotherapy, while analysis generally involves four or five meetings a week.
In practice, there is often an overlap between these different modalities, and what happens in more frequent sessions may not be fundamentally different from what happens in sessions held once or twice a week. However, more frequent sessions can facilitate the exploration of feelings and aspects of the personality that are particularly troubling and thus need a greater degree of safety to be investigated.

I have trained as a supervisor with the the Society of Analytical Psychology and I can offer clinical supervision to both trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists.

My Approach
My orientation is Jungian and I am committed to finding a way of working with each person that takes into account their individual needs. I aim to provide an environment in which it is safe to explore and in which an individual story can unfold.
Sometimes the roots of our problems are in the past, but our present circumstances and our aspirations and ideals also play a role. An increase in awareness often brings the possibility of change and freedom from repetitive patterns of behaviour.
Although my approach is Jungian, I do not subscribe to any particular theory. I would never try to fit you in a pigeon hole. I have at my disposal a wide range of techniques from different theoretical models, which I freely draw on according to the needs of the individual.
I am committed to continuing to learn and develop personally and professionally.
